Strange door latch issue
So twice today my driver's side door wouldn't close all the way unless I lowered the window. Then, voila, it closes nice and tight. Kind of a pain to have to go around to the passenger side to put up the driver's side window and remove the key though!
I don't get any warning lights, so I don't think it has anything to do with the microswitch, but I could be wrong!
What do you think?

I think your window memory has lost its position location.
First thing to try is to run the window all the way down and hold the button for an extra 5 or so seconds until you hear a 'click'. Don't hear a click, just hold it a couple more seconds to be sure. Then repeat the process all the way up. The problem is usually caused by the battery voltage dipping below the electronics minimum threshold of about 10v. Because the window motors draw a lot of current this can easily happen on a weak battery.

This is probably caused by the window losing its programming. Just start the car, run the window all the way down, then run it back up and hold the switch up for 5 seconds after it has stopped. if this doesn't fix it, you may need a new latch unit. It contains a microswitch that tells the body processor that the door is shut.
Surprise, surprise, I reset the window, and now the door shuts.
I would have swore that the window position wasn't the issue.
It really sounded like a metal on metal clunk when the door would fail to shut.
Thanks for the input!

What I always find puzzling when I hear about this problem is why doesn't the window controller use nonvolatile memory to store these settings? The ECU and TCM clearly store their parameters over low voltage and power outage situations.
1. it's the best warning of a possible failing battery
2. if it was stored, you'd end up going to the dealer for a window reset
