Strange noise
I have a 1997 XK8 Conv. When I make a hard right turn (doesn't happen on left turn), a cyclical noise comes from the rear of the vehicle. As the car speeds up, it speeds up, slow down, it slows down. At the highest speed, the cycles are about 1 per second, so not very fast, at slowest speed, maybe 1 per 2 seconds. When the car slows to around 5 mph, it drops out completely and it's fine. Can't tell what it is. When the window is open, can hear it much louder. Any ideas?
Half shaft universals or carrier bearing would be the first place I would look. Get the rear off the ground and turn the wheels, checking for noise or play. Left side most likely if it occurs in right turn.
