Strange VIN.
Hi,
literature about XK8 says that MY 2004 with revised bumpers, elm veneer and so on, started from VIN A36874 until end of production VIN A44686.
My Jag left Browns Lane in october 2003 and it is a MY 2003, but VIN is A38948.
Is that normal?
Thanks
Cheers

Where did you find the reference that 2004 MY starts at VIN A36874?
The last XK8 (an XKR 4.2-S Coupe in Frost Blue) came off the line on 27th May 2005 and is now with JDHT (Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust). It's VIN is A48684.

This is in the vehicle specification list, as issued by Jaguar. See pic.
Also take a look at this Jaguar VIN decoder and see how that works out. Jaguar VIN Vehicle Identification Number Decoder www.autocalculator.org

VIN just tested on autocalculator.org and says MY 2004.
I had troubles with official Jaguar service in the past: ordered a towing hook using my VIN sheet and a wrong one was sent from UK.
It's possible that data issued by Jaguar are inaccurate? Did anyone has reported that earlier?
Thanks
