Trebor12, here's my posting on this subject as of some time ago with history included.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/d...eatment-78017/

Albeit its on a diesel, but there are other posts around on the process if you look.

Like everything else, its something you need to weigh up in your own mind as there are two camps on this like almost every other issue with our cars...

I am getting my XKR Terracleaned next week, having seen the process on Wheeler Dealers a few months ago. The main appeal to me is the apparently huge reduction in emissions. My MOT is in January and I only just scraped through last time...

I'm assuming you have seen this, but if not, scroll through to 6'30.

I'm happy with my treatment and know plenty of others who have had the treatment on their cars and are also satisfied......

Keep us updated on how you get on Frog..

How complicated our cars have become. Back in carburetor days one could accomplish the same thing by spraying a fine mist of water into the intake at 2000 rpm. The resultant steam would clean out the "clinkers" in about 2 minutes.
Now, what with fuel injection and MAF technology, things ain't so simple.

Water injection is a time honored method to decrease charge temperature, reduce knock and clean valves which can still be done even on our modern cars.

JeffInTucson just did it to his R and I bet has a sparking clean intake system by now.

I wonder if water (or water/methanol) injection would do the same as Terraclean but continuously rather than as a one time treatment?

I saw the XK8 Wheeler Dealer episode, tonight, and I saw them doing the carbon cleaning process, but I never heard them refer to it as Terraclean. Was this, in fact, the Terraclean process or just something similar? Just curious.

Hmmm, might have to try this with the motorcycles.

Still, couldn't you take one of those electric clothes steamers, set it to max, put the wand end into an open airbox with the filter removed, and produce the same results? Yes, the MAF would go crazy if it was a hot resistor type. So disconnect the MAF for now, and after the few minutes, remove the wand and reconnect the MAF. Then erase the DTC caused by the disconnected MAF.

My Son, Warpspeed Performance, Is the dealer for the Glasgow area. Averybody, including jim64, has noticed the change in their car. He did an XKS V12 last week and the owner took it for a wee test after. He came back beaming and said it was like driving a differant car, quieter, smoother, quicker acceleration and the car felt lighter, all in two or three miles! He promptly booked in his Mazda RX8 for this week. One customer with a Skoda 1.8 diesel has improved his mpg by a staggering 300 miles. My son has done my 99 S type 3lt and noticed the same improvements as everyone else. You might say I am biased, but I am more honest than that. It realy does do what it says!
With the price of fuel at an all time high, can we afford not to be terracleaned!! Check out his FB page.
