Red face Thank you Mr Delivery driver

Hello guys, to keep my enthusiasm up over the last few months, every now and then I have been making a little purchase for Thunderbird1 when he comes out of hibernation. Today I received a mesh grill and some Jaguar decorative valve caps.
The grill is exactly the one I was wanting, just hope I have bought the correct one fitment wise, as it has come off a 1999 XKR. I think the cosmetics are the same just engine differences. I am sure someone will correct me on that one, lol's.
Pics uploaded for your perusal.
I intend to tax and insure him for April, hopefully when the warmer weather comes around, but having said that its been nice for the last couple of days up here in the North of Northumberland. Looking forward to getting some upgrades done, but cannot help feeling a bit apprehensive about what the gremlins have in store for me after so many months in storage, I shudder to think what nasty messages T.B.1 has in waiting for me.

Thankfully I am sure the forum members will help me out.
Cheers,
ArtyH

That's a substantial looking grille. Some of them look like chicken wire!

The April tax disc will be the last one you get. Paper discs are due to be scrapped in October.

Yes Graham, it is VERY substantial, was very surprised and pleased with it. Thought it was worth a punt at the price as apposed to a one from Adamesh and others for over £200.

It will be a collectors item then, I'll get it in the " to do list ".

It's your standard early Jaguar XKR grille. I like the looks of the 3 pc grille over the later one piece. It'll improve the look of your XK.

Yep it will fit....... The only issue you will have but can choose to ignore is...... When you remove your old XK8 bar you will have a cut out left behind in the overriders, on XKRs they have a small filler panel to cover/lose it

I have a few of these grilles, I refurb them and sell them on

I made this particular one to sit behind the bar and to be flat, customer was very happy

Thanks for the support guys, XKRacer, as you say the bar will have to come out, I read that somewhere, is it a big job to remove it? Also it must be a small piece of nose cone to fill the gap left by the bar, surely? I was hoping to fill it and spray it with a rattle can, its in a non obvious place so hopefully I can do a decent job on it.
Is there ANY way to fit the thing without taking the bar off?

Cheers,
Arty

This wedge shaped cutout is the difference. If you aren't too picky, it is behind the mesh, but you could fill it in and repaint, or find early XKR overriders, or there are some filler pieces for some years of XKR (don't ask me which ones.

Excellent Keith, I thought it was on one of the links I had seen, you have just found it for me. Will be a minor job which I look forward to. Give me a chance to try my new spray gun which was bought to spray the small imperfections on the seats.
Cheers again for all the support.

Kind regards,
Arty
