Thank you Oz, looks like the plastic fan blades, you avoided a big issue.
You are doing a lot of people a favor getting this straight.

Watch those new URO hoses carefully for leaks. The two new URO hoses I installed on my former 2005 S-Type years ago leaked (more like a weep) from Day One. Even double-clamping them did not stop the slight weep....

Glad to see you didn't have to lift the intake manifold. That could cause another can of worms.
Thanks for keeping us posted.

Good call on replacing the valley hoses. From memory, there should be 2 of them.

Can't wait to hear about the fit of this great-looking part.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

I used all new bolts ready available at Home Depot or Lowe's. I got mines at HD

I bought the valley hoses, but those are for the next adventure. Replacing all the hoses under and behind the intake manifold and booster pump.

Thanks for the great side-by-side comparison photos. If this 4.2 aluminum thermostat assembly indeed fits well and does not leak, my guess is that the ebay seller will sell a ton of them based upon your experience....

A little more work before going to my grandson's birthday party.
Installed new tensioner, idler and belt.

Also got upper radiator hose in, but had two remove and cut 5mm of the radiator end so it would not touch the air box.

Hopefully by tomorrow late afternoon I'll be done.

Since the housings come from China, they probably will not be available soon.

That thermostat housing is impressive. It looks like the front-side compliment to the octopus hose !

You call it impressive I call it crazy engineering. On this engine it's all about the looks, minimizing all the visible hoses and wires. Who cares about the guy who has to work on it later...

Got one problem, the connector for the coolant temperature is different. I filled down the out of place ridge and plugged it in. But the temperature gauge is not working. I'll have to try to remove the sensor without breaking the housing and hopefully the original fits in. Other than that everything looks fine so far.

Had to file off, but I'm not getting a temp reading

Might have a better chance of getting the sensor out by loosening it while hot and aluminum expanded a bit. I would want the temp sensor working with a Chinese thermostat.

I did and everything works now. With that if you have a good working sensor swap it before installing the thermostat housing. The one that comes with it has not only the wrong guide slots but it also does NOT work with our car.
