Default Thermostat housing for 2003 XK8 4.2

I keep looking around at different choices, prices and manufacturers. Based on information and replies to this post I cancelled my original order and bought this one made for the XK8 4.2

https://www.ebay.com/itm/356685205839?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=4znmsqjorca&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=_vZkHeuQSm C&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Has anyone tried using the aluminum replacement for the 2003 XK8?

I wasn't aware that they were available for the 4.2.
A lot of folks will be happy to hear about this including me.

Jack I don't know if they work, I'm just asking. They look to be the same but with one extra port on top.

I just reread it, seems to leave out the XK8. Comparing photos with the original plastic ones, the only difference is the extra small fitting that can be capped off with with a rubber cap.
I'll let you be the test dummy

I guess I'll be guinea pig on this one. I just ordered it, will report after it arrives and it's working.

There is one digit difference between the two parts, one end with (5) and the other end with (6) which is for the XK8.

Ok, I cancelled the order that I had and order the part made specifically for the XK8. I looks like I will still be the guinea pig on this one because nobody in here has mentioned an aluminum replacement for the 4.2 before.

It hasn't been very long since it was discussed that no one made it for the 4.2.. Sure hope it works. You can contact them to check if it really does fit.

that’s definitely meant for an AJ34 XK8

33s and 36 for the stype and xj have different hose nipple angles

That Aluminum unit is also available on Amazon for $98. Mitzone is the listed Manufacturer. No Country of Origin listed. Looks good, but earlier mention of some mods required to install their plastic 4.2l unit. Hope this is a Quality unit we've hoped for.

When you search the companies registration they referred them from Chinese based. But we are surrounded by Chinese products. So anxious to see the results before ordering one.

Glad to see that it has an O-ring on the four bolt flange. I think in the description some say, Comes with gasket. I may order one just in case they become available.
That is if yours works out OK.

Please keep us posted on the fit and finish. Us 4.2 owners have long wanted a non-plastic alternative. Sure hope this is indeed the answer....

I will keep everyone posted. My plan was to have all this completed last night but I'm also changing the water pump and a lot of stuff to clean up before reassembly.
I'm replacing all the bolts and the top 4 bolts with hex head because of access problems. Had to remove the intake manifold front cover to remove one of the bolts.
