Default timing parts

are the Lincoln ls 3.9 parts listed on rockauto the same as 98 xk8? they list a tk4163 set with metal tensioners, chains and guides. they also have cylinder head cover and timing cover gaskets and front crank seal. the prices are way cheaper but not much good if some parts are different.

The tensioners and secondary chains look correct but the PRIMARY blades/guides and chains look like the later 'silent' type (not the roller chains).

Still................ $200 with shipping is a good price for the 4 tensioners and short chains alone.

Rather than start a new tensioner thread, I thought I would post this here. I am doing my secondary tensioners on a 2000 XK8 and my flats on the cam do not line up. I have not taken the old sec. tensioner out yet and was wondering if I do will the VVT then allow then to align? I am planing on using the locking tool. Thanks David.

Another dumb question. Do the flats change position as I turn the engine or do they always come around in the same position?

Since the Cam Sprockets Have the same number of teeth, the Cam Flats should always Align.

Looking at your pic, it seems that the your chain may may have jumped a tooth.

I know that the VVTs can change the Intake Cam position, but I think that (with the Engine not running) the default position would have the Cams Aligned.

I have a XKR without VVTs and others would have to verify my suspicions.

Hi Paul, I also thought they would be lined up. There is no play at all in the chain and the car runs great. Not sure how to proceed .
