I have them on my X-type. Snow traction could be a bit better, but they have gotten me through everything the last two Michigan Winters have had to offer with no concern.
Other than that, they are great for the price. seem to be wearing fine, aren't noisy, no complaints.
The X-type is a bit of a different story than an XK though. I really can't speak to their traction since I have AWD and a tiny engine in that car - not a prayer of spinning a tire.

Drove my 07 XK with these tires from Charlston NC to Vancouver BC. They were brand new when I started out . Put on 4000 miles, tires were a non issue no highway noise and excellent grip when I drove over Mt Shasta pass in the snow and ice and rain. They look like new with 4500 miles on them now.

I have about 15000 miles on a set that I put on my XK8 early last summer. They've been great for me. They are super-quiet and sticky. After 15K miles I cannot notice any tread wear at all. It would be pretty easy to notice, too, because they have little "DWS" letters engraved in the tread every few inches. The "D" is the deepest and the "S" is the shallowest. When you can no longer see the S the tire is supposed to only be good for dry and wet conditions. When you can no longer see the "W" it's only good for dry conditions. and when you can no longer see the "D" you need new tires. Anyway, my "S" is still completely visible everywhere I look on the tire. If the "S" is still visible after 15K miles, I figure I'm going to get at least 50,000 miles out of the tires, maybe much more.
Yesterday I had a set installed on my son's Saab 9-3 convertible. My daughter's Prius is going to need a set within 6 months or so, and I'm going to have the DWS's installed on her car, too. I love the tires. They are the best tires I've ever owned.

Well... I just got a new tire put on today. I had a puncture over on the edge of the tread that couldn't be repaired. I was hoping that Continental's 1 year, 2/32nd tread wear road hazard warranty would cover the tire, but it didn't. After about 15,000 miles I had 3/32nds of tread worn off. It was different in different places around the tire. In a couple of places it was 4/32nds, in others it was just 2/32nds, but it was too much to be covered by the warranty. This tire got punctured about a month or two ago and I plugged it. Several times. The plugs kept leaking, so I know I drove on it with low air on several occasions, and I over-inflated it other times to compensate for the air I knew I was going to lose. I was just too busy to get by the tire store. I measured the other rear tire and after 15,000 miles it was pretty even with about 2/32nds worn off anywhere I checked.
So, the tread starts off with 10/32nds and on my "good" tire I've worn off 2/32nds in 15,000 miles. I think by law you have to have at least 2/32nds to pass the safety inspection, so if the wear rate continues to be the same I should get 50K to 60K miles out of the tires.

But if you really can't go with two sets of wheels & tires, they sound like a decent choice.

Ultrac sessanta
I just installed a full set of new Z rated tires on my 2008 XK. These tires, "ULTRAC SESSANTAS", are manufactured in the Netherlands. They have a really cool tread pattern, are beautiful to look at (desgned by Gugliaro), and are very reasonably priced. I paid about $200.00 per tire for 245-40-19s on the front and 275-35-19s on the rear. I don't yet know how they will work out for me, but I can tell you the customer reviews have been outstanding! Folks like them way better than Pirellis for less than 1/2 the price...
