Default Tires

It's time for new treads on my 2001XK8. I would appreciate any recommendations. Several reviews that I read favor Kumho and Toyo in all season treads with good wear ratings and smooth ride. Prices are in the $775 range out the door.

Search the threads, this topic is well covered. The short answer is there are tons of choices depending on pocketbook and driving style.

I went with Yokohama YK580s all around. Good grip, they work in the wet and are quiet on the road.

Yokohama YK580 tires here as well. I found them to be the best bang-for-the-buck all-season tires on the market back when I completed my tire research in early 2012. Only available at Discount Tire or America's Tire....

Yes, search around and you'll see this issue has been debated many times; there's really no right answer, per say. A lot of it boils down to preference. My 05 XK8 will be getting new shoes next month, and I'm planning on the buying the Hankook Ventus V12s.. many here have spoken highly of them, but I can't give any personal feedback yet.

Horses for courses - but I have been very pleased with the Pirelli P-Zero's

I've been very pleased with my Hankook V12 Evo. There is a newer version out now the V12 Evo2, but I can't comment on them. I would assume they are even better, but you never know.

General AS-3, 40k in almost 3 years, probably another 10k to go on them or new for next winter.
Low budget tire, got them through TireRack, shipped to the local MB shop for Road Force Balance and mounting, ~$550 total.
Great handling in the rain.

Have been happy with my Nexen 3000's but apparently they have been discontinued. I just got new Nexens last week (didn't look at the model number) and they feel great (not as aggressive tread). Installed, balanced, tax etc. under $150.00 per tire.

Walkman: What are your priorities? (in order)
Price?
Handling?
Quiet?
Endurance (tire life)?

I want a smooth, quiet ride with decent tread life. I only drive about 6000 miles each year and store from November to April.

Had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S II (iirc) put on last year, as I had bought the car with old and partially worn Pirellis, the car making a bit of a weird road-droning noise. Drastically quieter. Smooth. Can't complain about handling. Big improvement.

regards
