Default titanium bolt breakage - bbs detroit wheel

One of the bolts has broken while splitting rims. Used oven soak at 200 degrees c. Going to try drilling and stud extractor. Any advice on method and sourcing replacement in UK. If all fails, will risk running without one but unfortunately it’s next to the valve.

There is no particular importance to being next to the valve, only the valve bolt itself penetrates the barrel of the wheel.

A competent machine shop can remove the broken piece without damaging anything

i would have that done before opting to run without the bolt

You can do it. A workshop is best, but not just any workshop. I don't have those wheels. But to drill titanium, you need a tungsten carbide drill bit. To prevent slipping and avoid damaging the rim, I would use a drill press (or at least a system that allows you to lock the vertical movement with the rim securely held). To drill titanium, you have to use cutting fluid, otherwise the drill bit can be destroyed. Once the hole is drilled, use a screw extractor; if there's no deformation, it will come out fine. There's probably a workshop nearby that specializes in rim repair; my advice is to go there.
