Top Hydrolic Line Failure

Top Hydrolic Line Failure
Will try to add a couple of photos, but . . .
One of the hydrolic lines from the pump / reservoir in the boot failed the other evening. Finally got time to look at it today and found the hose / tube had parted right at the connector where it connects to the pump.
Is it possible to make a reliable patch to the line? If so, does anyone have a suggestion regarding source of parts or materials?
Hard to see, but the failed line is the lower one running between the pump and the viewer.
You can see the disconnection / failure in this slightly out of focus image.

Look at the condition of the 'deteriorating' hydraulic line covering. I really don't think that anything will hold onto it.
Jaguar tried a compression fitting repair YEARS ago and then abandoned the idea when it was not reliable.
Buy a pair of top latch lines and replace the failed ones. Plenty of write-ups about the procedure. I just did that job last week on a customer 2002 XK8 with 59,000 miles on it. About 6 hours labor and almost $400 for the lines.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune with the hydraulic system. Note that the hydraulic hoses have a history of failing so you are not alone. As mentioned Jaguar had a hose line repair kit that failed terribly so it is no longer available. You have several options for hoses the first is Jaguar and the other is Top Hydraulics. I will attach a few links that should help.

Check out this link, I found it on this forum today. I had the dreaded green shower a few months back and have been putting off buying and installing new hoses After seeing this post, I'm not going to replace them, but cap them off and just do the manual latch operation. You'll be giving a HUGE sigh of relief when you see the savings in labor and expense. XK8 Convertible Top, Manual Latch Conversion
