Tranny, sensor or ??
Coming hone from seeing my kids and as I am getting onto the highway, a guy changed into my lane, so I floored it. Engine revved to 4500 and would not go any higher, car started slowing down like it was coasting, so I let up all the way and pressed it just slightly and car started going again.
Well 8-10 miles later and I am going down a hill and car felt like it came out of gear a time or 2 and thought it was my imagination till I pressed the peddle again when I hit the bottom of the hill. Car would not rev past 2k rpm's and I could feel the engine cutting out and in, so I decided to pull over and I got down into 3rd gear and the car run good, slipped it into neutral and car revved up to about 53-5400 before I let off. Pulled over and turned the car off, waited about 3-4 minutes and pulled back into traffic and car ran good for 8-10 miles and then did the same thing, pulled over, turned it off and then restarted, did this twice more and than ran perfect the rest of the way home.
First I thought the torque convertor was going bad, then fuel pump, then MAF, the the kickdown solenoid (not sure what it is called on a Jag) and now I am just baffled.
Anybody have an idea??
