I recently bought a 2001 xk8. I knew it needed some work. i`m trying to replace the internal trans wire harness. how do I remove the round connector that goes thru the rear case

 

I think you have to rotate it to unlock. You should be able to get the info with a search.

 

Sorry, late to the party. The part that fits into the trans housing just pushes in. It's essentially held in place by two fat o-rings.

 

AND a large 'U' clip on the outside.

 

I got the clip off this morning. still can`t get it apart

 

PUSH THE CONNECTOR INTO THE GEARBOX.
It comes out with the internal harness.

 

I got the old one out and the new one pushed thru. now I need to get the external connected to the internal. it`s very hard to get at . I need to be able to lock it on and then put the clip on. tried to remove the trans mount for some room but I can`t get it off

 

Put the 'U' clip on and THEN connect the harness plug so you don't push the socket back into the gearbox.
