2001 XK8 can't seem to find how to check the transmission fluid. Or any specs on the type of fluid.
If you want to do a bit of research, the transmission is a 5HP24 by the German company ZF (it's been used in several cars so there is a lot out there). As the refill procedure involves monitoring the temperature, the design does not include a traditional dip stick.
"Sealed for Life" equals 100,000 miles in manufacturers' lingo (that's the expected life of the automobile). Though there is no dipstick, it is a good idea to drain-and-fill a portion of the trans fluid about every 60,000 miles. Do a search of this forum for DIY procedure, or, find a good Indy shop who knows the transmission. If you replace the pan and filter yourself, there are several excellent offers on eBay and/or after market retailers. Here's the fluid spec for your model:
