Hello All.

I have a 2002 XK8 and I've been getting a bit of a whine from the transmission and,,, it's time. I've been putting off this fluid/filter change (and an engine trans swap, smh) too long and I've run into a question about the job I didn't expect.

I see that there ARE transmission filters for sale,,, then I get info that the filter and pan is ONE unit and the cost difference is a factor of almost x10. Are the pan and and the filter one piece, or two?

It seems like a dumb question but I just watched Rev Sam's video of the job and he says one piece while there are individual gasket and filter deals on line? What's up and what say you?

Any and all help is super appreciated,,, lol, unless it's less than helpful

 

The 5HP24 has a separate filter but the the 6HP26 used on the 4.2 does not.
