Default Transmission Problem

I had my transmission rebuilt 2 months ago, and took it back in for the 1000 mile checkup. I don't use the manual side of the shifter but when they took it out for the test drive the mechanic used it and it got a "neutral safety switch" code and went into limp mode. Put the shifter up in park..shut off the engine...restarted and everything was fine. You can fool with the shifter with the engine shut off and get the same code. With the engine off if you pull the shifter over to the left the 4 lights up, move up to 3 ..it lights...up to 2 ..it lights..back to 3 ..it lights..down to 4 it doesn't light. Then it gets the code. The shift feels sloppy on that side...like it doesn't feel a "notch" for each gear. Is there a cable that needs adjusted? or will replacing the neutral safety switch fix this? Everything works fine on the right side of the shifter and there is never a problem going from normal to sport. This isn't a game stopper but I would like to get an idea what is up. Thanks for any advice

Had that problem before and yes, most likely the cable needs adjusting.

Sounds exactly like mine but wasn't sure what the code actually was.

Cable was adjusted and it was perfectly fine afterwards.
