I have a 2001 XK8 with only 63k miles that looks like it’s hardly been used in the wet but I will now be using it as a daily car so I won’t to get it protected against rust.

a local 4x4 specialist does underbody cleaning and wax oiling but they don’t do cavity or sill injection. The price is quite high at £450+vat.

based on the common rust points for these cars is it essentially to have cavity injection? The underbody all looks good but the rear subframe and suspension has a lot of surface corrosion.

l dont have a answer Kevin..........................but i was about to ask the same question myself. l want to cavity wax my 1999 convertible and was wondering where to drill, squirt and cap.

 

I found a cheaper place that only does rust proofing and they’re about 40% cheaper. He seems to know a bit about these cars, asked if it was the steel or aluminium body and if it was a coupe or cabrio. He does do sills and cavity injection.

 

Rust on the rear subframe is common. The subframe is substantial and it's more a case of being unsightly. The "A" Frame beneath it also rusts but it can fail as a result.

Have a look for threads by RaceDiagnostics for identification and rectification of most of the corrosion problems that can occur with the XK8.
