Default URO t-stat leaking

So I have had nothing but problems since the URO "upgrade".
First it was the bad seal on the cap. Bad machining and finish quality. Now there is seepage around the base plate at the connection to the block, and last but not least seepage around the connection at the thermostat.

Could it be the weather? It is now at 15 to 20deg with -0 wind chill. Would the plastic have been better thermolly with this cold?

For now, because of the cold we'll just put up with the smell and keep the res topped up. When does spring get here? its too cold to mess with the plumbing!

1999 xk8 coupe.

If you are referring to the alloy thermostat tower, the base seal supplied in that kit is JUNK. You have to use a factory one.

Yes that is the one and I did use the supplied gaskets. I already have the factory cap and gasket on the top. I guess I'll get the factory base gasket and t-stat ring.
Thank you for the follow-up.

Make certain the T-Stat base plate is torqued down tight. The two back bolts are very difficult to reach and sometimes are not properly tightened.

I can only think the back ones are tight because the front ones were torqued correctly and it is at the front that the seepage is occurring. With that said it could be the rear are over torqued. But either way its not bad enough right now to mess with. Besides its still to cold to mess with. But thanks for your input. We'll be keeping an eye on it. Lets just say that since the install in September until now it has not given me a low coolant warning. I could just smell I had a leak.

Happy Holidays!

Order a gasket, bend up the wrench, find a nice warm garage for a couple of hours and you will be set. This is just a metal to metal part fit issue. gordo
