I am in the process of replacing my valley hoses due to a significant leak that just started from my 99 xk8.
All was going well, got the throttle body out and was about to remove the manifold with the elbow attached. Unfortunately this is where the good progress ended!
The fitted pipe from the right side was so brittle that even when disconnected it simply snapped off. This is the one that has the heat wrapper and goes to a quick connector leading to the wheel arch with two red buttons to disconnect. The first picture is the pipe still connected pre snap.
Can this pipe be replaced? What is it called and how does it connect to the elbow? As there seems to be no way to disconnect it from the elbow but all second hand elbow examples don't seem to have this pipe so that would indicate it is possible.
Secondly there is another fitted pipe from the other side of the elbow which does not appear to have any connections for disconnect. It has a stripe running the length of the pipe and disappears into a number of pipes under the coolant expansion tank. Anyone know how to remove this from the elbow so I can get the whole lot out? (Last picture)
Have tried googling this but there seems to be very little information or diagrams around this part of the car!
Just to close this one off - the pipe is the Brake Booster Servo Vacuum Pipe / Tube (to Manifold) - It is a push fit into the elbow so when the outer ring is depressed it can be removed.
The other pipes are simple vacuum lines that time had sealed to the elbow, some gentle prying and these eventually came off.
