Values parting out an X100
My 2000 XK8 with 104,000 had just been sorted to about 95% when I was in an accident about 2 weeks ago. I had agreed upon value insurance on it so it is not a loss $ wise. I did a good bit of research concerning the going rate for used parts. My findings were that if you are efficient and get reasonable $ for the parts, that means, everything from cats to junking a bare shell, you could realize about $ 10,000.00 US. The rub is it could take years to accomplish the task. Although I am still contemplating my final decision, I am leaning toward selling it to a company that specializes in used Jaguar parts. It has a clear title, no salvage was required for the settlement. I have the car advertised and would prefer it goes to someone that would repair it, but, I have no interest shown by anyone yet. Another thing to consider is the time to negotiate pricing, removal and packaging of the parts, and getting them shipped. I have a number of XJ-S parts cars but I also have a couple XJ-S projects and keepers that I need parts for. It is a different situation.

Out of 10, 3 rebuilt and 7 scrapped over 20 years, I still had a 10x10 storage unit full of parts and this summer decided to liquidate. I went through and made sure that I kept one of each so that I have spares for my own car (I'm not getting out, just not going to mess with selling anymore) and posted an ad for the inventory of the rest as "all or none" package deal. I actually had several people wanting it but all from out of state so it came down to who could get there first with a U-haul truck. So yes, it can take a long time to sell a whole car's worth of parts one-at-a-time and some you may never sell.
Another alternative to consider: When I once bought a different generation Supra just to get the motor out of it for another project, I didn't want to mess with the extra parts so I threw a party. After I had removed the engine, I invited a bunch of local owners from the club who had that generation of Supra, telling them bring your tools and I was left with an empty shell by late evening that Saturday. When my neighbor across the street had some catastrophic failure on his Porsche Boxster and he didn't like the salvage offers he was getting, I suggested and he did the same thing with the Porsche club.
I would appreciate the name of the company and, if possible, the phone number that you are considering selling your poor Jaguar to for parts I need some parts for my 2003 XKR convertable. If I were in your position, that's what I would do
The small light sensor dome and bezel located on the upper left corner of the dash. I would be happy to make this worth your while if you proceed this direction. Please keep me posted. Thanks.

I don't want to start dis-assembling the car if I am going to sell it whole.

The XK8 is a 2000 coupe, red. I bought it about three years ago from a collector. During his 10 year ownership it never saw rain/snow. I replaced the front shocks, stat housing and cross over pipe, rad hoses, had the throttle body remanufactured and reinstalled it, new expansion tank and sensor, new front springs are in a box waiting to be replaced, 4 new speed rated tires with about a thousand miles on them, new rearview mirror, new cup holder, the PO told me the tensioners have been replaced. I hadn't had the time to check them but the car runs great with 104.000 miles on it. New rear brakes, new front upper control arm bushings. The only rust has occurred at the two holes in the floor pan where the plugs are near the front jack points and the very bottom of the bottom of the front fenders. I have treated those areas with POR 15. It is minor. Interior is nice with some wear on driver's seat. The accident damage is to the left front fender, head light, bumper cover, wheel well liner, windshield washer reservoir, a little bending where the fender mates to the core support. I researched and repair parts could be had for about $ 1,400.00 used, and that is a liberal assessment. I haven't taken anything off so there could be a bit more damage that I can't see. I do, however think the car could be repaired and someone could have a very good daily driver at a reasonable cost point. It has central gauges not nav.
