VVT Solenoid O-Ring Seals Revisited....
2006 XK8 with 123,300 miles....
My current pair of VVT solenoid O-ring seals (part no. AJ82856) is just beginning to seep trace amounts of oil. I installed them in January 2019. The pair prior to that was installed in March 2013. So counting the factory pair, this will be at least the fourth pair of VVT solenoid O-ring seals on this car since it was built in May 2005 (no idea how often these seals were replaced prior to us purchasing the car in early February 2012). Probably fairly typical given the fact that these things sit there and bake in the engine bay, turning hard and brittle over time. Rockauto is currently selling them for less than $6 each. I wonder if the ones being sold elsewhere for $12 to $15 each are any better. My guess is no....

Changed my seals in August 2017 and still no signs of leakage. I would hazard a guess they are same on the OHC Mustangs from the Ford Dealer. Maybe less expensive that Jaguar Price??? Years for Mustang 2008-2010? Probably available at a auto parts store if you do not ask for Jaguar. Since joint design with Ford, they probably used similar VVT solenoids. The people get BUG-EYED when you say Jaguar. Dorman Brand has some also. Common auto parts brand similar to SMP (Standard Motor Parts). You can compare them with your old parts. Probably not too many manufactures of the VVT solenoids. My thoughts but others may disagree.
