Default W5A580 click from stop

2002 XKR: Looking for insight on a click sound when on hit the gas from a stop in forward or reverse. I can ease forward or back an not get the click. Climbed under the car with it in neutral to checked the drive line. Prop shaft, flex disk, u-joints all look good. Flex disk and transmission mount actually look new (previous owner). But in neutral I can rotate the drive shaft a bit in either direction and hear the click inside the transmission. Doesn't wiggle if I shake it, only rotates slightly. Also, gave all the other parts which might click or clank a shake and everything is tight.

Just have jack stands so not safe to have the car operating while underneath.

Thoughts on the cause and fix?

Not in your VIN range but something to consider.

Are you sure the noise is coming from the transmission and not from the differential? Mine does the same when accelerating from very low speed in traffic, it's a rear differential play.

Default Sound is from the transmission

It's definitely coming from the transmission. I moved the drive shaft by hand to make the noise while laying under the car with my ear where the noise was coming from. Definitely above the transmission fluid pan. Not from any of the connections . I'm wondering if it's just in need of a fluid change. I noticed when it's cold it doesn't make the noise but after I've been driving enough for the transmission fluid to heat up, i.e. get thin, that's when I hear the noise.
