Default Warning light: Failsafe check rear taillights

Anyone out there seen this message on their XK8 (mine is a 2002) and if so how do you find & fix it? When this comes on the cruise control is in op & the red light on the console goes off. If you shut off the ignition for several seconds the light comes back on, and the cruise MAY or MAY not work foe a while.

This typically indicates a failing microswitch in the brake pedal switch assembly. Quite a few of us have replaced the two microswitches in that assembly with much more robust ones sourced from Mouser or Digi-Key....

Thank you very much; is there a U-tube video that explains the process?

The OEM brake switch is kinda pricey. I tried the solder of micro switch, but my ability was lacking. Gave up and purchased a less expensive A/M switch from Rockauto, It has functioned well since purchased in February this year. Installed using the "fishing line method" with an assistant.
