I finally have gotten my XKR 95% sorted. No leaks of any kind at all, no warning faults, nothing. Started at ~ 93,900ish miles, now after the trips I'm sitting at a nice 94,340 miles. Day one was long distance highway driving followed by old coastal roads. About 3 hours in total. Day two was the real test for the car. About 8 hours of driving, first the highway, then tight mountain passes, then back again to the highway. My girlfriend and I had in mind to go to one of the towns that is near the center of the island.
The XKR never missed a beat. She did flawlessly. Only fault we both found were the side-bolsters, which did a poor job of holding us in place while we slipped and slid out of the seats.
I wasn't able to take many pictures of the car, but I did take some pictures of the sites.
I love seeing these posts, because it’s the whole reason we bought ours. Now, my timing may not have been the best. I received the car on Nov 2 and drove it about 5 times before putting it in storage for the cold Minnesota winter.
But once we thaw out, the kitty is going to see some cool stuff!!
Yes! I figured a positive thread was in order given that most people use the forums to only ask for help regarding their troubles. That gives the impression that these cars are temperamental at best. Not the case at all, one that is well taken care of will take care of you.
I've had mine for the past 7 or 8 years now, and I think this is the time when I've had it the most sorted mechanically speaking. It's taken so long to get it here because I've been doing most of the work myself in my spare time while studying. Can't wait to get it painted and then be able to say that it's like new.
