Can anyone tell me what the circled item is in the pic below? It looks like some sort of pressure relief valve but I cannot find it on any parts diagrams and I am curious.
It only appears to be present on the 4.2L engines, so 2003 model year onwards. This isn't my car in the pic (just one from Autotrader) but the part is present on my car too.
I believe that line is the actual fuel supply line to the fuel rail, from the fuel pump. The circled item is some kind of dampener. The line has to come off during the dreaded valley hose job...
Cheers avern1 but i don't think this is the right part.
Looking at the assembly you linked there is another pipe connected to the middle of that valve. When you google the part number it looks like a plastic bypass valve too:
I have been looking through the SNG Barratt drawings for a few days trying to locate this.
I occasionally get a squeak like air is escaping from that side of the engine bay and wondered if this valve was the culprit. It almost sounds like turbo waste gate but obviously isn't and the pipes connected to it are far too narrow to be boost related so am now intrigued as to what it is.
