Default What is involved with reflashing a ecu?

I have a 2002 XK8 that I have purchased a replacement ECU for from a ebay source. As I understand it it needs to be matched to my VIN# before it will let me run it. It cranks, but won't start. What is involved to do this?

A replacement ECU for a 4.0 XK does not require REFLASH.

The VCATS needs to match and then an IMMOBILIZATION SETUP needs to be performed.

That is wonderful news. Can you elaborate a little on how this is done? I am lost here.

An IMMO SETUP is performed with WDS/IDS or similar diagnostic equipment.

SETUP and CONFIGURATION tab is selected and follow the 'onscreen-prompts' to get the replacement ECM configured to the vehicle CAN BUS.
