I need to buy an ECU for my 04 X-Type, but I can't afford to buy a new one. Thermo said I should buy one that made as close to my old ECU made date. Can any one explain all the numbers on the sticker at the bottom of X-Type ECU? I can understand some of them but not all. Or any one recommence some place repair Jaguar X-Type ECU? I found some place on line but they don't work with Jaguar ECU.
If I get an used ECU, is it have to be re-program, can I just take the ECU to the Jag. dealer? Or can I do it myself? I appreciated any suggestion.

What makes you think its a bad ECU.
what is the build date of your car should be on a sticker inside the drivers door. also do you have the 2.5 or the 3.0?

Post your ECU numbers here someone may be able to decode them for you

 

If E=Engine, they don't often fail and yes will need to match and dealer reprogram (if they can do it).
