Default What parts of the interior are leather

What parts of the interior are leather and what parts are synthetic leather? Are the small "armrests" in the back seat real leather?

When taking care of the leather in my car some pieces that I considered as leather seems not to benefit from the treatment. What about the leather trim around the climate control/stereo units?

Higgins, from what I remember: only the seat covers and the center arm rest is leather.

Thats a good question. I think I read somewhere that even parts of the seat are not real leather, hope someone can fill us in on that.

For most leather interiors designed during the past decade or so, only the seating surfaces that touch your body are real leather. Essentially just two pieces - the seat bottom and the seat back....

Jon is correct about only the seat facings being real leather on most XK8/XKR. An exception is the Final Series (Victory Edition in the US) which the brochure claims has a little more real leather than others.

Graham,

Not sure about how many more seating panels in my wife's Victory Edition are actual leather, but what I am sure about is that the leather quality in her car is superb. Probably the best-quality leather interior we have ever owned....

Jon,

The perforated leather on the steering wheel is genuine as is the gear change knob. There was a suggestion in some Jaguar sales literature that the console is also leather but it certainly looks synthetic from the backing visible at the front corner on my 2005 XK8 4.2-S Final Series with the cubby box liner removed

No such doubt with the interior of the Continental R I had at the same time. Here with my earlier 2001 XK8.

Even the headlining was leather!

I've had most of the Ivory trimmed panels off my 4.2S (UK Victory equivalent) and there really is leather almost everywhere!

Seats and headrests are all leather except the rear panels with the elasticated map pockets that are vinyl

Centre console and its fittings are all leather trimmed

Armrests are leather as are even the little trim pieces in the storage space behind the window switches.

Soft panels above the armrests are leather

Even the Ivory trim around the black footwell carpets is the real thing, as indeed Jaguar mentioned in their publicity

Usually, Ivory leather was an extra at about £750, although included gratis in the final run models. Perhaps the extra quantity of leather was what one was normally having to pay for?
