Default Wheel caps and vanity mirror

Does the spare tire also have a wheel cap or just the 4 wheels on the road?

Does anyone have a picture of how the vanity mirror "staple" spring is installed?

This XK8 has been fun!

The spare does not have a wheel cap because the retaining bolt (A) passes through the hole in the wheel centre to secure it and the tool tray to the floor panel.

It looks to me like the retaining bolt goes not through the center, but through a lug bolt in the drawing, and that is the way my spare is mounted. I have a 1998 XK8 if that makes any difference.

YES - it does go through one of the bolt holes.

Still no centre cap though!

What is the vanity mirror "staple spring"? I ask because I just got done with the headliner and reinstalling the vanity mirrors, including soldering the (broken off) metal clip springs which bring power to the lights, so I'm unfortunately very familiar...

If you look at a cross section of the springs they look like a staple. One end is shorter than the other. They are supposed to snap in place but fall out without some epoxy. How do they install?

reverend Sam has a video on how to fix the sunvisors. They are in the "how to videos" at the beginning of the XK8/XKR forums. Just dont tell his wife how the kitchen table ended up with a dent on it!

Good luck its a very easy fix

<<<@!1!@>>>I was trying to fix the same thing this evening and Rev. Sam's video showed me how in about 30 seconds. I'd already taken apart an older XJ8 mirror/visor but the XK8's is smaller and configured differently inside. The Rev's video filled in the rest.

Here's the direct link to his video:
