Default Wheel Options

Looking to put a set of recently acquired staggered Corvette C5 wheels on my 99 XK8. Wanted to get your opinions on clearance with the setup I'm considering.

Specs on the wheels:
C5 Front - 245/45ZR17 8.5Jx17 ET58 5x120.65 70.3
C5 Rear - 275/40ZR18 9.5Jx18 ET65 5x120.65 70.3

Solutions:

To run front wheels in same position - run 25mm spacer (1 inch) - and run standard size tire. Would put wheel 6mm closer to suspension and 6mm closer to fender

Rear wheel options - run 30mm spacer (1.19") to get exact same centerlines (spreads extra width out for tire evenly - 10mm closer to fender and suspension). If 1" spacer (25mm), tire 15mm closer to suspension, 5mm closer to fender. Both fill out wheelwell by 9mm if running 275/45 18. (705mm over original 687).

Priced out a set of spacers at $150 for all 4. Hub centric on the hub side and lug centric on wheel side.

Thoughts on a 25mm spacer in the front and a 30mm in the rear? Should I be ok with those setups?

These are the wheels. Probably going gloss black.

And the Car:

You have to run wheel adapters, anyway, because the center bore of GM wheels is likely 10 to 20mm too small.

If properly torqued, you shouldn't have any issues with adapter. The resulting load on the wheel bearings is probably less than the 20" wheels on an XKR.

I hope you get them working. I've always liked those Corvette wheels and have wondered what they would look like on an XK. Good luck!

Thanks! Main concern is whether I'll be hitting rim or suspension with that setup. The spacers will be custom made, so no returns...

Thanks!

Ran another scenario compared to the Detroit 20" OEMs.

If I run 1.75" spacers in the rear, I'll put the outside of the 9.5" wheel exactly where the outside of the OEM 10" wide wheel would go. (25mm OEM offset, 65mm C5 offset, 45mm spacer with the extra 5 pushing the narrower wheel out from center) 275/45 18 for same treadwidth as C5. Guessing that should work pretty well.

Comparing to the 20x9 Detroits up front, would need 28mm (1.1") spacers to push the 17x8.5" wheels out to exactly where the Detroits run. (30mm OEM offset, 58mm C5 offset for 28mm spacer) Considering a 245/55 17 for that one.

I used calculator on Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

Does that logic make sense?
