Gordo

I have a 1990 xjs, similar issue.

I had the roadforce balancing done, best money spent. massive difference.

I had some wire wheels that wouldn't settle down, much better....

Good Luck, Steve.

Remove the old one like this after cutting off the flange.

Getting the new one in is tricky as you need to make a tool.

Gordo,

Judging from your vehicle pics, looks like you have after market wheels. I too have that slight shake and know that my lower ball joints are bad. I just found the pair for $50 and ordered them to get that fixed but I was also gonna mention something else that may be the cause.

I too have aftermarket wheels and the guy who sold them to me told me to test the wheels out for a bit. He mentioned that if I feel there is too much shake in the steering wheel, I may need a hub spacer (a little piece of plastic that goes in the center of the hub to get a tighter fitting wheel). They sell them at any wheel/tire place and usually run about $40 tops for the set of 4. I plan on doing this after I get my lower ball joints replaced. Just FYI incase you hadnt heard this before...

Default R&R lower balljoints on the car?

Anyone tried/had any luck replacing lower ball joints on the car? Found an air hammer adaptor

Says its for Honda/Acura, any reason it wouldn't work on an XK?

Cheap enough tool too, $83.75

Any input guys?

Also, I'm still unable to view JTIS on my Macbook. If anyone can post the procedure for changing out the lower ball joints (or procedure to drop lower arm from knuckle) I sure would appreciate it.
