Default When our V8 became a V6

just read this ...

The most intriguing version of this V8 is actually a V6. When Jaguar needed a smaller engine to sit alongside the V8s in the XF, XJ and F-type in 2012, it kept the V8’s block but blanked off the two cylinders nearest the nose.

Any body know more about this ? I would love to see a cut away.

They are talking about the AJ126 V6 which was derived from the AJ133 V8.
The AJ133 was designed in 2007/8 and the AJ126 came out in 2012, in supercharged trim only, to replace the NA version of the V8.
It didn't blank off the two cylinders nearest the nose instead it re-engineered the block to delete the rear two cylinders.
It has very many parts in common with the V8.
Also the V6 has both a smaller bore and smaller stroke than the V8, hence 3 litres vs 5 litres.

If someone tries to tell you the V6 is lighter they are full of **** because the V6 and the V8 are essentially the exact same weight.
