Default Where can I stick it?

Tempting fate putting up a question like that...

Went out today and treated myself to the new (ish) top of the line Garmin 3598 with all the voice activated toys. Must admit I was very impressed. Spotted road works around the corner I didnt have any idea was there. Only started the road works today.

I digress. I am trying to find a suitable place to put the sat nav. So I can see it and probably hard wire it into the car. Obviously I need the lead/aerial going to the unit for signals etc so I will have to buy another to butcher for the hard wiring bit. But I was wondering where do you guys put yours? In the window? Down by the gear lever? To the right of the steering wheel?

Anyone hard wired theirs in to neaten up the installation?

Suggestions and photos if you have them would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Default GPS on an XK8

I wanted an installation that looked like it was hardwired but didn't want to mess with the wiring in my XK8. I took the wire and passed it behind the instrument panel down to where it connected to the center console. From there I passed it up next to the cigar lighter and was finished. I like it next to the A pillar. I't easy to see and doesn't hamper my visibility.

Default stick it

this is mine very easy to unplug both satnav and mp3 when I park up plus the wires don't get in the way and easy to tuck in when not in use

Thanks guys. I see both are still plugged into the cigar lighter. I like that by the way, no common cigarette lighter for XKR owners.

Thanks for the replies. I bought the Nuvi 3598 so I can use it for both navigation and handsfree phone. Love the voice activated bit too. I can see myself chatting to myself for many hours to come in the car.

P.S Brad your steering wheel is on the wrong side, surprised you did not notice.

Probably just one of those niggles you get with a Friday afternoon car. I guess Brad's just got used to it

I looked at a RHD jag when I was shopping for mine. But then my wife would always be driving. I stick my GPS, (sat nav) on the amp gauge.

Thats a good idea, not that the others are a good idea too. Never thought of sticking it on the gauge. Seems obvious when you think about it.

So (touch wood etc) will be picking the car up tomorrow. Feels a bit like Christmas, can't wait. (and yes I did resist using the tree icon )
