Really happy I didn't get the 05, cause I got this instead
Hey Guys,
Found my new daily driver, and my old one has a great home and an extremely happy father. So glad I missed out on the 05 I was looking at.
Like I said before it wasn't meant to be.
Found this 07 with 38K on it with a great price so just had to take her home.
Thanks again to all that chimed in and if I get nostalgic, I can still work on my fathers' 97. Still a few things I wanted to fix on her.

Congratulations, beautiful car. I have both and they represent two completely different driving experiences. I am partial to my 2002 for looks and ride, and to my 2010 for performance and sound. You'll find the 2007 suspension light years ahead of your dad's new car, so enjoy.
Thanks Guys,
I would have to agree they are two totally different animals, and I think you phrased that perfectly.
I was going to try explain the differences but didn't want to offend anyone. If I could I would have kept both.
Both are incredible rides each with their own merits and after driving the 97 for the past 8 years I think I made the right choice for me at this time. Love the new tech features and my wife fell in love with it when I brought her home.
Hope I get to drive it

You are going to love the '07 XK.
Still love my '01 XKR also, and as was said, each has their merits. They both have a place in my stable.
It is a matter of taste of course, but the '07 grill was offered for just one year and IMHO benefits greatly from a upper and lower mesh grill upgrade from Adamesh. You can see the updated grill in the remote top video on my website.

If you toss in a couple hundred bucks I'll trade you straight across, right now, today for my 1999 XK8. No really, I will! Right now, I'll hop in the kitty and start driving to your house, right now....just say the word and I'm on the road....

Did you by chance buy this from Chicago Cars Direct? I recognize the warehouse in the background... they usually have great prices. Almost bought an 07 XJR from them a year ago. Great to work with from my experience..
Thanks again guys,
Sweet Grill, Have to look at after winter and see what they have on this side of the pond. Right now looking for a new set of rims with either all season or winter tires to get me through. 20" Senta rims with summer rubber not going to cut it around here.
Hell no on the Trade
but nice ride there, kinda had enough with the 4.0 litre for now. There are 2 more out there for a good buck with low miles if you want one. A British Racing Green one in TN with 25K on it and a Liquid Silver like mine at Dallas autos in Texas with 27K miles.
Got her from Prime Motorsport in Addison. Really nice guys and a 30,000 sq ft facility packed with gorgeous cars. Had an Aston, Ferrari (sold), Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche, and plenty of Mercedes, BMW's, besides your ho hum American muscle cars
. I think he had 3 new Corvettes, and a Camaro my father was drooling over when I went to pick her up.
Been running over car with fine tooth comb this weekend and found a few things I missed when looking at her, couple extra scratches and a few missing clips in engine compartment for panels.
Biggest was the blower motor isn't working but I'll call them Monday to see if they'll buy me the part. I think Blower resistor, but have to confirm. Checked the fuse and it looked fine but I will put a meter on it today.
They said they put $4K at the local Jaguar Dealer and I laughed because that was the one I wouldn't touch with a 10', scratch that a 100' pole. Broke more on my 97 than they fixed for the first 2 yrs I had her. The other 6yrs I managed on my own with a bit of help from this wonderful forum and a lot less issues with the car for some odd reason. I know not all dealers are bad and not trying to bash them in general but my experiences with this one were, well I don't know how to put it.
The $4K they put in went into a Top Module, New Battery, Oil Change which by the way is about 1/2 qt to high, and power steering pump (funny cause I needed one of those when I took my car in years ago. pump was fine when it got there, must have a surplus).
Already pulled the whole electrical guide from the XK forum and will post there about fixing. Looks like the blower motor resistor or control module as they call it is an issue. With 37K I highly doubt it's the blower fan. Also the glove box flops open instead of opening slowly because of a spring and a cheap plastic clip so have to fix one to get at the other.
Ahh, back in my element, now I know it's a jag.

Scott,
I am assuming you're talking about the suspension on your 1998 that you're not happy with. I agree, after having my 2010 XKR now for several months, it is such a pleasure not to have to come to a nearly complete stop to go over speed bumps, dips, etc. The newer car climbs over them with solid confidence and no sloppiness. In my 2002 XKR, even slowing to barely moving, it feels as if there are six different movements, lots of moans and groans, bumps, lumps, and sloppiness. However, the new one with 20" wheels and tires that have sidewalls of only about 1", does not give you the luxurious feeling ride of the older one on a smooth road.
I guess I'll have to keep both to get the best of both worlds.

I loved the suspension on my 97. Thought it was more of cruiser than a sports car (meaning go cart feel), but that was most likely due to the 17" rims and more rubber. Never had a speed bump issue, took them easily.
I expect if I had 20's on there is would have been a different story, more rubber = more comfort.
The handling was great but I did suspension work to keep it that way. It wasn't sloppy and loose. It's not that I felt every bump on the road like most sporty suspensions, it just didn't seem to care about how bad the road was. Just gave a great driving experience. I called it the 'jaguar feel' because I've never driven another car quite like it. I've had rentals that were new and drove those for a few days and couldn't wait to get back in mine for the feel of it.
