Default While on my weekly pilgrimage...

to work, I happened upon a new model XK. It was not an XKR, but a straight XK8 - don't know if it was an 07 or an 08, most likely an 07.

I realize this is highly personal, but I think the pre 07 XK's put the new body style to shame. Seems to me that Jag tried to copy the Aston Martin's, and it just doesn't look as good to me as the body style of my XK.

The one I saw was black, like mine. The rear end looks decent, but overall it just doesn't look as good to me. It is also shorter - or looks like it is.

My next car will be a DB9. But, if they would sell XKRS's here in the US then I would consider getting one of those before a DB9.

Well, no I guess I wouldn't get an XKRS over a DB9... The DB9 is my dream car.

Opinions on the body style of the new XK8 and XKR?

I thought that way when they first came out. The more I saw it though, the more I liked it. I am all for the new.

I also felt the same way at first; in fact, I looked long and hard to find an '06 coupe (I'm not a convertible guy).

Over the 18 or 19 months that I owned the car the new body style started growing on me. Last November my dealer called me to tell me he had something special that he was not going to put on the showroom floor until I looked at it.......... 30 minutes after I got there the Portfolio Coupe was headed home with me... and I have not missed the old body style once.

A couple of years ago I was very close to buying a DB9. I didn't for several reasons; the primary one was that the dealer had 5 'used' '05's with 900 to 3000 miles for sale. The reason they gave me was that the coupe owners traded them in for convertibles. I could see one or two people but not five. The other reason was that friends and owners on forums have stated that they have had a lot of small minor issues.... mostly pain in the butt time consuming things. The only dealer in town in not in an easy place for me to get to........ so I just didn't want to deal with the hassle. You're right about the new body style looking like the DB9; I've had several people tell that they thought my car was an AM.

If you get a chance go drive an '08 XKR you won't be sorry.......................

I had the use of a new XKR convertible last Fall. It was a very nice car and very fast. It has a factory exhaust note that sounds very good. What I was very disappointed in was the room in the boot. About half of the 97-06's boot capacity. XKRS is coming!!

So fari have been very impressed with the new model XKs, sleek design yet edgy. Interior is clean and functional, everything serves a purpose. The handling and power is incredible especially the XKR coupes.
