Default Will pay finders fee for helping me score this part

Driver side, switchpack holder ... shall we just call it a 'cushion cup'? (not to be mistaken for the Captain's cup) So, who's up for a hunt?

This is on the inside of the leather, attached to the cushion with two screws. Mine was destroyed by the upholstery guy when he replaced the leather, snapped off the RH side snap that actually is pretty comlex looking. All that I have tried with epoxy and what-not, the switchpack wiggles its way out of the enclosure after one or two sitdowns into the seat.

Here is what the passenger side looks like when the switchpack is gently maneuvered from its end fasteners.

This part is not available separately from the dealer, it is actually part of the cushion, and that part is $390 new. I've tried a couple salvage yards that have xk8/Rs, and they tell me they throw away the cushion after they've removed the switchpack and disassembled the frame. I've got a car-part request out there, but I thought with this pool of resources, someone might have access to, or know where one might be.

I'll pay you $50 to find me one, whether its yours to sell, or you know someone who knows a guy - I'll negotiate the part price separately if its not yours...finders fee is tax free! (and no paypal charges if you want the finders money that way). Shipping will be on my dime using my FedEX account, which I'll provide you a shipping label just as soon as the part is found.

Woohoo, my first lead! Thanks...will call first thing tomorrow.

The hard part is getting a salvage yard to dismantle the seat if its in good condition leather-wise. But, its worth a shot. I'll let you know if that pans out.

I can help you here I have a couple of seats I am 'breaking' I have already sold the switch packs, that part will not be black but you don't see it anyway and could be painted if needed.

I take it you would want it from the passenger seat in my case

If you have no joy drop me a line

I did find a half dozen small locations around the perimeter, not many at all, but the two screws appear to mainly hold it in place. I was surprised at how little effort it took to wiggle it free from the cushion.

Well, florida salvage yard, as I suspected, had not dismantled the seats and are selling the entire seat for $400. Sorry Ben, but a good lead, thank you.

xkracer, I've sent you a PM and some $$ via paypal

Is this what you are after

No problem getting it out once you removed the staples holding the material, take out the 2 screws the thing practically fell out!

I will add there is a slight crack to the right hand screw position but nothing that will hinder its operation, if you are happy with that I will send it off

That's the prize! Send that mustard flavored plastic bit over to the US where it will be put to good use. That crack won't hurt anything, I agree. Thanks buddy.

Have you tried plastic welding, by the way? You're right, plastic is difficult to bond with glue and even epoxy, but a flat tipped soldering gun does the trick for me in 99% of situations out there. I've plastic welded numerous MC plastics including race fairings, and they're just as likely to crack in another spot as the repair area. Just a thought

I would have tried the plastic weld, but that entire two-prong part that you can see in the golden version is missing on mine...the upholsterer didn't save me the little pieces.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only guy out here that will kill some brain cells to weld this brittle plastic back together on these cars. One thing I do on hidden parts is drill a 1/8" dia hole at the end of the crack and weld the part backwards. Leaving the hole. The hole will kill the memory of the crack. Cracks start in corners and on straight edges and rarely in a round hole.
