Default disconnect an Arnott air fitting

Help! I replaced my front springs with the new-manufacture Arnott units. First everything was great, but took it for a drive and noticed the front right was dropping while the front left was okay.

I am nearly sure the issue is the connection at the air line. These new units don't use the olive and compression, they use something like a Sharkbite where you just press the pipe in. I (foolishly, in my rush) did not cut off the end of the air line to remove the grooved section where the olive was. How do I get the line back out?! Would really love to fix this without having to wait to call Arnott tomorrow morning.

Thank you in advance!

I pushed the hose in and then turned the fitting clockwise to lock it. Have you tried turning the fitting ccw to release?

Thank you--I believe you're right. I didn't try that because I wasn't sure how the fitting worked. But heard back from Arnott this morning and he said yes, unscrew the fitting, there's a collet inside. Similar to the OE fitting.

Will try that, cut off the end of the pipe, reconnect and go for attempt #2. Fingers crossed that's the only issue.

They should have a better description in the instruction sheet. It is different than the OEM, and all they say is " insert the hose".

Yeah, the instructions were not too useful. The tech support at Arnott was very helpful and even sent me a drawing. It's called a "Voss fitting" and it's very similar to the OE compression ring. I opened up the offending one, and sure enough the collet had fallen right into the old groove in the pipe. I slid it up the hose, cut off 2mm, reinstalled, and so far so good!

I will make sure it's all good and then might redo the left side just to be sure everything is 100% leak free.

I do have to say, I agree with everyone else that praises these new Arnott units. The ride is so much better and the handling is phenomenal. Feels like a new Jag again. The old shocks had gotten so worn out that the ride was wallowly and uncontrolled.

Default Arnott Technical Service Bulletin - Air Fitting

Sorry for the confusion. Below is a link to the Arnott Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on Air Fittings. We now include it with each part that has a VOSS Air Fitting.

Here is the TSB that comes with the Arnott New Front & Rear Air Struts: http://arnottinfo.com/manuals/TSB%20_7_A.pdf

I've had my car since new...it never rode as nicely as it does with the Arnotts.

Doug,

Just read this post and wonder if this is the source of my air leak? I fitted 2 new Arnott remanufactured air struts recently but without this TSB information I just fitted the existing jaguar fitting into the new struts. If the car is not used for 4-5 days I notice the front drop ~1". Should I be following the TSB? I still have the fittings that came with the Arnott struts.

Just to confirm
  1. install these fittings into the strut at a torque of 5Nm
  2. cut the old olive off the air line and push into fiitings
