Default Window adjustment importance

Hi all.

Our XK8/XKR`s have a fairly complex window adjustment feature. To avoid wind noise and water leaks it is of utmost importance that the adjustment is correct. Over the years the correct adjustment will detoriorate.

- Fore/aft tilt.
Adjusts the gap between window and rear quarter glass. Incorrect, will give you wind noise and water leaks. Too far fwd will also over time split upper fwd door seal.

- Upper part inboard/outboard.
Must be correct to ensure window slides correct into upper seal. Incorrect will over time destroy the seal. (Expensive)

- Lower part inboard/outboard.
To seal properly towards door weather strip. (Weather strip may give water leaks where it goes into triangular part in fwd part of door. Silicone sparesly.)

- Window height.
Too low: Noise and leaks. Too far up: Splits upper seal. (Again expensive)

Does your window squeek going up and down. Use something I think is called Krytol.

Lubricate all rubber seals with silicone made for that purpose to keep them soft and also to avoid windows sticking in wintertime.

Instructions for adjustment to be found in FAQ sections, JTIS and attatched TSB.
