Default Window problem on convertible

I've just put the roof up on my XK8 convertible with the driver and passenger windows down. After the roof closed I realized what I'd done and raised both windows (with the roof still up). The drivers' side window went up normally. But the passenger's side stuck and there was a loud click. That window is operating normally but will go no higher than half way closed. I've tried putting the roof down and reseting the windows but the situation remains the same. Any advice?

Putting the roof up with the windows down should not be an issue, in fact that's usually how I do it. I would try disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery to "unset" the window and then try resetting it. If that doesn't do it you probably either have something inside the door that is physically obstructing the window or a failure in the window regulator mechanism.

Are you sure the pass window isn't cockeyed ? It can stick like you said with a loose adjustment nut. When loose itll cause rear of window to drop a bit..

given how easy it is, maybe you should plan to remove door card and get a birds eye view.

NEVER ever force the window with the motor. It can get expensive fast.

John

Ronald, thanks for the tips. It looks like it's the window mechanism. Jim

John, Thanks for the input. I didn't force it with the motor so that's good. The window is straight, not down at the rear. See my answer to Ronald above. Jim
