window waist seal problems

window waist seal problems
just to be clear - I'm talking about the door/glass seal on the outside of the car running along the top edge of the door.
These come up again and again in refurb threads showing the aluminium being repainted. My problem is that the inner part of the rubber seems to have come away from the metal - although I'm not sure how it was originally bonded. The consequence is that when I wind the window up it's pulling the seal up with the glass.
Has anyone else had this happen, and/or can you suggest a fix? I'm thinking along the lines of removing the seal and cleaning up the metal (if it was a rubber/metal bond originally) and gluing it.
Any other suggestions very welcome!

I'd get yourself some good glue and stick it back on!
I've used the below glue to glue some new door card mount towers in about a year ago and its been fine through cold winter and hot summer.
Evo-stik Serious Glue - Super strong fix and repair adhesive
