Default Windshield replacement on 2000 xk8

Got a big crack in my windshield and called the glass guy and the tech says there are little clips that hold in the metal moulding that break every time they remove the trim. He says they can't get those clips and would have to replace the metal trim with a rubber moulding that doesn't look as nice.
my question is does anybody know anything about this and where to get the clips?
Is there a technique to removing the moulding without breaking the clips?
I'm getting to the point where this isn't fun anymore!

or, Should I find another windshield replacement company?

Check out this link. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ght=Windshield

These guys are in NJ but their price has gone up $100.

To answer your question: yes find someone else. When interviewing different companies I found huge variations in experience answer as stated in link, price.

Thanks, these clips were the thing this guy was worried about. This company is one of the largest, most well known windshield replacement companies who are interested in your SAFE ty... if you get my drift about their name. I am going to bring it by a guy my normal windshield guy recommends and let him see the car and discuss the job before we even try.
BTW , who were the guys in NJ you were talking about? I didn't see any info on their name or location!

all of the clips and moldings are available at the dealer. The clips are available separately. You are going to pay, but they are available.

If you are willing to drive to Brooklyn, New York, look up My Way Auto Repair & Glass. Joe is a great guy and a perfectionist.

I recently replaced my windshield in my '97. None of the clips broke upon trim removal ( they are pretty heavy metal). The trim just pops out vertically ( Use a trim tool). The clips slide onto the glass before it is installed. Have the installer also mount the trim to the clips and windshield before installing- it is the ONLY way to get a correct seal between the trim and the body, while the adhesive is still active.
