Get your battery tested first, and try a new battery if it's bad.

P0301 - Misfire detected, cylinder 1 Bank A

P1316 - Misfire excess emissions

P1144 - I don't see this code in my particular listing.

P0351 - THE LIKELY ROOT CAUSE - Ignition coil, cylinder 1 Bank A, primary / secondary circuit malfunction.

My guess...and I'm no tech...is that the coil has gone bad on cylinder 1 in bank A, causing the misfire and out-of-spec emissions being read. It may be that all you need is a new coil for that cylinder.

Good luck.

Default Coil

I had a similar situation - P0301 and P035X. Does the car run rough? I could easily feel the misfiring cylinder at idle. A Beck/Arnley coil fixed me right up. Check the plug bores for excess oil from a leaking gasket, it can cause a misfire, too.

My MAF sensor was acting up at the same time - that will also cause emissions related codes.

Clear the codes and see what comes back up. If the coil reappears it probably needs to be replaced. They can fail gently.

cylinder 1 coil went out on my car, all of a sudden, no warning. Don't wait too long, if the code popped up, that means 2 or 3 consecutive drive cycles logged a misfire. Its easy to change, just pick up a new coil at your local parts store (ok, call first, they had to get one from nearby at my store) and it'll take an hour, tops.

If your coil fails say...20 miles away from home, and it misfires all the way, that could very well be enough to damage your cat. I limped 2 miles down the road and changed it in their parking lot after have my coil cover off already at home, and a small ratchet ready to loosen the coil bolt in my front seat. Just be careful.
