X100 4.2S Fuel tank one way valve repair/ replacement?

Default X100 4.2S Fuel tank one way valve repair/ replacement?

Hello everyone!
It's been a long while since I've been on here, I've been busy but I can now finally spend some more time looking after our 2 Jags.

On our X100 4.2S, 2005 MY, there has been a smell of unspent fuel vapour in the boot. Upon further inspection, it seems there is a rubber line that has been replaced, cut slightly too short, which has out extra stress on this 'one way valve' (I'm not sure of the name but it doesn't seem to a be a return line). Since it's a coupe, removing the subwoofer was helpful.


You can see how it fractured since it was under too much stress. It was slightly too short!


Looking at the service history (SH) it seems that the previous owner a few months before we purchased the car in 2016. Had this valve removed and replaced, since it was suspect to be faulty. Later SH states that a purge valve was replaced and the issue was resolved. At some point the line was replaced and I've found the original sitting in the wheel well!

I'm not sure who did the swap for the braided line but obviously I'm not happy!

Temporarily I think I'll use some Sugru, but I need to figure out a long term solution.

Has anyone had to replace this part before and if so, how difficult is it? I do not want to replace the whole fuel pump assembly if at all possible since the rest of it functions fine, not a single error code has been thrown either.

Any resources such as exploded diagrams or part numbers would be much appreciated,
I do not have access to the service manuals myself. I am also unsure if this is a twin pump setup or the single pump hi-flo setup. The fact that the 6 pin connector only has 4 pins populated indicates to me that it is a single pump, but any advice and P/Ns would be appreciated.

I see someone on here previously came up with a creative method to access the top assembly, but first I would like to ascertain what bits I need first.

The 4.2 XK uses a RETURNLESS fuel system.

For the 4.2l engines, it is a single pump return-less system. The fuel pressure is controlled by the power supply to the pump (PWM based on a fuel pressure sensor).

Looking at diagrams on sngbarratt, it might be part# C2N1034 (evaporative loss flange), possibly bundled with tank part# C2N3850.

Perfect, looking online it has been superseded with p/n C2N2635.
Unfortunately it comes in at over £200 one shipping is factored in . Not really wanting to bodge it with sugru long term, especially since it's unspent fuel vapour we're dealing with.
I think I'll have settle with the complete replacement part, since you don't see any late run XKs like these going round the breakers.

I'd say triple check the part#. Jaguar has at least 2 different tanks depending on emissions requirements. Once you validate the part#, check if it interchanges with anything else (likely, it does), and reevaluate your chances with a breaker. To my knowledge, this is not a problem part people replace "all the time", so a breaker part might still be pretty durable (and cheap).
