Default X50 Plus did not work for me

Bought the X50 Plus in hopes of providing a permanent coolant temp indication. It would not connect to my XKR.
I sent a message to the eBay seller about it and he agreed it would not work on a Jaguar, even though their website
says it will work on virtually any OBDii car. I returned it for a $30 refund.

I have ELM327 and Torque app but I do not care for this for several reasons. It drains my phone battery while I drive,
no place good to place it etc etc

I would much prefer something that is powered by the OBDII port and placed in the drivers side corner. I would leave it on the Coolant Temp page at all times so I really don’t need something to read codes and turn off the MIL light etc because I have other things that will already do that.

The X50 was a good looking unit too bad it did not work. I am aware of the temp gauge conversion options but if I am not mistaken I have to come up with matching piece of would veneer which seems unlikely.

Any other X50-like apps that might connect better?

I recently bought the Autool X60 for my Xkr 2000. Very happy with it! Now shows me the oil temp, coolant temp and battery voltage

No, you would have to come up with a matching wood for the Oil Gauge, battery and clock gauges. The temperature gauge uses the same one already in the car.

Oh that is fantastic! Not sure what I was thinking but a new wood veneer would make the 3 gauge conversion really difficult. I just reread the JagWrangler product details and you are correct! Already placed the order.
Thanks

Yeah their ad online basically says it works on almost everything with OBDII. I sent the seller a message
asking if he knew of a way to make it work on an 04 XKR. He replied that it would not work on my car
and refunded my money. So who knows.
