Default XJR 4.0 and XKR 4.0 model year 2000

Hi,

an opportunity arised to lay hands on a rhd Xjr -2000 from the UK with defect engine, and some other flaws. My plan is to use it for spare parts for engine, drive train and related components like supercharger, throttle body, generator, starter etc.

My Xkr is same model year and was originally sold in Italy.

I expect everything in the engine and drive train to be identical between the two vehicles?

regards,
Higgins

No takers? Will go and see the Xjr this weekend, so can sure use some advice on the compatibility between UK spec Xjr and (ROW?) continental Europe spec Xkr, both 2000 year model

Most likely I will try to buy the engine, transmission and the various control units like ECM TCM etc but leave tbe body itself. Love the X308 but this one is rhd and has got a substantial body damage somewhere, havent seen it yet though

The engine and gearbox are interchangeable but the diffs are different.
The ECM is probably different between the X100 and the X308, the TCM might be the same? I don't know, you will need the part numbers.

Thanks Motorcarman. Someone who might know about the control modules? Also the steering control module is interesting if they are interchangeble, for the ZF steering rack. Guess x308 used the same one

Don't exactly know, but there are clues. You might want to ask the 308 forum for a picture of someone's 2000 XJR VCATS and compare to yours. I was interested in this a while back since there was a salvage XJ8 around here, and I wanted an ECM. Jim Lombardi posted a copy of his VCATS for a 2002 XJ8 (picture shown below)

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-codes-72283/

A 2002 VCATS for the XK8 is shown below (same as my 2001 too). Looked to me like, for example, many modules had the same base model number, but had different programming designations (e.g. the last three numbers on ECM, IPK, KTM, TCM...). Since IDS does not give me the option to program the IPK, for example, I concluded it was not necessarily possible to use those modules in the XK8.

I did not see anything on the internet that contradicted this conclusion, but would welcome the contradiction if someone knows differently since it opens up the range of potential parts.

VCATS from 2002 XK8.
