54 and a half!
Having my third or is it my fourth mid life crisis. Hell I've lost count but who cares! Hmm, does that count as a senior moment?
Who cares, great fun!

BTW, I had my local custom exhaust shop remove the center resonator and replace with an H pipe, as well as remove the 4 mufflers. I had him put in some slim glass packs where the giant rear cans used to be and add some pretty stainless tips. He suggested that I not reroute the pipes under the axle as my tendency to drive it in the winter and over questionable dirt roads might cause clearance issues. Total cost - $510 USD, result being a car that's quiet enough under normal conditions, but howls like a jaguar should under acceleration. No drone, and much more power as well. Will have to make a video or 2.
I suggest you reevaluate giving your son an XK. I think it was a sure sign my father had gone absolutely bonkers. I will never be so generous with my kids. I don't think anyone can be responsible enough at my age. I don't know how I've managed to not destroy the car yet, you can only hope to be lucky enough to have a son who won't crash it. I've had the car for 1.5 years now, and I think the only reason I've been able to keep the car is because I basically had to work for it, work on it, and I had to understand what it meant to be independent. I was "given" the car after I had been living on my own for 9 months, after I learned to pay my bills, cook my own food, provide, fend for myself in a new city and use public transport.

Agreed. No 16-year-old kid should be handed the keys to an XK8/XKR. Far too dangerous to himself and to others on the road as well....

Just traded in my 06 XKR for an 2010 XK. Don't need all that much acceleration at 69.

Hi Tommy, that's a coincidence, I traded my Miata (we call it an MX5 here) for my XKR. The Mazda is a great car, but at 46 I felt I had outgrown it. Also, the XKR is more manly...

Default AGE...of the car...!!!

Hi..I am new here. I have a 2010XK and didn't get the extended warranty. I am now looking to buy it and can through USAA. It is $7,000 for a new car warranty policy for 50,000 or 4 years. My question is how long can I keep my car. I love it I drive it as my main car and I want to keep it forever. I understand that after 6 years and 100,000 I can not longer buy a warranty policy. How long do these cars last and how many miles can I expect to enjoy my baby before I really need to let her go?

Recently got an '00 'vert for the wife, and she looks good in it!! She does let me drive it (when it need gas). As much as she loved the XJ40 we've had for 13 years, I don't think I'd be able to pry her out of the XK any time soon.

P.S. Wife is 60 & I'm 63.

I traded my C-4 Corvette for my "new to me" XK8.
I'm very pleased with the car!
By the way, I'm 61.

Had my first Jaguar (XJS) at age 37.
Just bought an XK8 at the grand old age of 58.

Very interesting thread, just found it. 52 and my first Jag. I've had my midlife crisis three times now. Camaro, Harley and now the Jag. Best one ever.Seems the most of us are in the same age group but I would encourage the younger crowd to keep stepping up, ditch those mustangs.

Since I'm new and still a "junior member" ... I suppose I'll chime in... 56 ....

There used to be a day when "junior" felt like a slight but at this point I'm quite content with the junior part. The whine of a supercharger may not make the gray go away but it sure does strip the years away inside when it kicks in.
