Dealer in florida selling 1999 xk8 coupe for $3500, car has 99000 on clock with 24 service records. Has to be the cheapest xk8 out there. Can,t understand the price pictures of car look good our cars can,t be dropping that much! even if the car had issues it has to be worth more
I paid $3200 for my XK8 convertible, not including tax. I have spruced it up quite a bit, but the major expense and headache was the trans. It appears if you put enough slime in a ZF trans, you can disguise a pressure problem, thus hiding a 1st gear drum problem. I lucked out in finding a 41000 mile trans in a flood car for $700, but spent $200 flushing it out with an electric pump and 40 liters of trans fluid. Now that I changed the trans the first time, it would go a lot smoother, and quicker. It is a very heavy trans, and does not balance well on a floor jack, unless you make an appliance to bolt to the floor jack, to keep the trans from moving. Jaguar uses more bolts on the bellhousing, and the fewest bolts on the torque converter, that I have ever seen. Remove the cats, and center exhaust, replace the studs in the cats, and I got away with reusing the gaskets for the exhaust to the catalytic converter flanges. there are 2 10 millimeter bolts holding the wiring harness to the top of the bell housing, and keep the 2 cooling lines out of harms way, because the get damaged very easily. Also flush out the trans cooler in the radiator, whenever you change out a trans. I will be changing the fluid and filter every 30,000 miles, because I do not ever want to do this job again, by myself. I think, and most people I have talked to think the XK8 is going to be one of the last Jags to appreciate, because everything else is looking generic, and using more plastic. I was looking for an XJS, when I ran across my XK8. You used to be able to purchase used XKEs, and XJSs for next to nothing. I sold my XKE in the 70s for less than 2 grand, and now you can't get a parts car for less than $6000, and drivers are all around 30K, with pristine cars going for over 80 thousand. The XJSs are beginning their climb now. In 82, I sold a Ferrari Daytona, with a bad, but repairable engine for $3000. I believe the XK8s will shoot up in price, but you never buy cars as investments. In the 90s Ferraris were going for the four million dollar range. Those investors took it in the shorts, when the market brought them down to the one to two million dollar range, with the newer ones selling for under $50000. Enjoy what you have, and you will always be happy. You will always make a few bucks on a solid car, that has some TLC given to it.....Be cool....Mike
Thanks for your post I have no thoughts of selling i bought the car because i loved its looks, not as an investment .I was just surprised it was selling so cheap, your probably right they are getting rid of a crap load of trouble .
Most car dealers pretty much know what they're selling, and what it's really worth. Could turn out to be an $ 8,000+ car for the new owner by the time it's all sorted out. On the other hand, someone might get very lucky........
Gary looked on ebay car must have sold , advert is no longer their, their was 20 odd watching yesterday when i checked. Hopefully someone got a good deal.

The link Norri provided is undoubtedly it. Sold yesterday for $3,500 and already the buyer has left feedback:
"STAY AWAY FROM THIS SELLER. OBVIOUSLY THIS GUY IS YOUR TYPICAL USED CAR CROOK."
The seller probably realized their mistake and reneged on the deal.

My 2001 XKR was $3500. 89k miles. It drove home. Just. Now a reliable every day car.
Total cost after repairs and parts $5000. Why so cheap? The car was in a river at one time. Geico repaired it but because the repairs cost more than 80% of the cars value Florida law says has to be given a 'Rebuilt' Title. Reduces the value by 60%. I can not see the 'Rebuilt' sticker when driving so it does not bother me
I believe that car is here in Jacksonville and has been offered at prices all over the board. It is the kind of used car lot that you do not even slow down to look at. I will ride by today and see if it is still there.
