I am looking at a 1999 XK8 99 with 40K miles tomorrow, that is supposed to be just about perfect? However the older owner tells me he turned on the rear window defrosted some time ago and he thinks there was a short or something, The window shattered and is completely gone, does anyone know where I can obtain another glass window like the factory one, I have only a few hours before I meet with him. wonder just how much this window could cost??????? any quick info would be greatly appreciated. thanks Dave in Tampa Fl.

 

Think in terms of reducing the reasonable price by a $1000.

Check out the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum for a check list of issues to verify before jumping. The AC system can cost more than an engine. Make sure everything works.

Generally that statement can not be true of these cars. They are very high maint. at times, sorta like that hot blond cheerleader you may have dated in HS. Great looking, everything is there, but it always wants your attn, it wants you to buy it something.

You just gotta love these Jag dealers, 1 told me you have to buy the whole new top. Another dealer said the new glass window from Jag was $649 the seal $89 with tax not mounting it $780

 

It is replaceable. If you ever need your top replaced, they will use your current rear window again.

 

Yeah... unfortunately I didn't have that problem.
