Default XK8 "boot" Toneau cover fits but the frame of the convertible top sticks up

Jaguar XK8 Cover once attached the frame sticks up and looks like Bumps on each side,my girl calls it "wings" since that how it looks to her, is this normal or is the cover not on correctly? ( all the tabs are pulled tightly under truck lid).

Yes it's normal but not attractive.

I was just thinking the same thing when I took it out the other day with the cover on. Weird they didn't make it lower.

The flush top is one of the things I'm most envious about the X150. If they just didn't mess that front end up...

I get that Jaguar did it in homage to the E-Type. Those bumps and the cassette player are the two things that really "date" the car for me.

I agree that the modern convenience of the X150 top is appealing but sacrificing the other beauty aspects to get it is not so appealing - yet.

Wings are correct. Keeps the rear of the vehicle going on the straight in speeds excess of 130mph. Very effective.

The ONLY good thing I can say about it is that it looks better than the DB-7 did...

Maybe it's a British thing (since my 69 442 convertible's cover was perfectly flat)...

it is a classic look for many older convertibles. the reason that it gives us some pause here is that although the xk8 and xkr beautifully honor the e-type, there is a modern sleekness to the design that conflicts with anything that is not as smoothly engineered. it is amazing how so many of my friends say that the car looks like it could be a very recent introduction while being so classic in its look. this alone was an accomplishment. additionally many times a convertible loses something when it was originally designed as a coupe or fixed roof; this does not hood up or down. they took the bold step of creating enough different body lines that an observer might think that the coupe simply had metal in place of fabric. the best examples of this are the american cameros and firebirds of the late 60's that look great in either configuration. personally, i think that the coupe xk8 and xkr are elegant themselves and really carry the lines as intended. i am just a vert guy and appreciate how much thought went into making mine into a worthy compromise.

I couldn't agree more... my last car was a 350Z coupe which was a great car with great lines, but I wanted a convertible - and the 350Z convertible is downright FUGLY.......
